| The Incredible Hulk Trailer Coming Early March
Marvel Entertainment announced its fourth quarter and full year operating results this morning, and with it came the news that you'll be seeing the first trailer for The Incredible Hulk in early March. Our guess is that it will hit theaters with Warner Bros.' PG-13 rated 10,000 B.C. on March 7 (if that's true, make sure you call your theater to see if the trailer is playing with the showtime you're thinking of attending, as it will likely not be on every screen) and then with the R-rated Universal (the studio releasing "Hulk" in theaters) pic Doomsday on March 14. Also, it was revealed that, because of the writers strike and possible actors strike, Marvel Studios will have one in-house release in the later part of 2009, instead of two like this year (Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk), but it's anyone's guess right not if that is Ant-Man, Captain America, Thor or The Avengers.
Texas steps up security to prevent cheating on TAKS tests
Testing officials in the Duncanville, Garland and Richardson districts say some of their schools began keeping seating charts in the last year or two. Some educators and testing coordinators see the extra scrutiny as a chance to prove they're following the rules. "Our philosophy is we're doing everything right, so let them come in," said Jeremy Resnick, Richardson's assessment director. Still, not everyone's convinced every new measure will work. Take the pledge not to cheat, which earned mixed reviews from students at W.T. White High School in Dallas. Junior Jessica Sanchez said the pledge – which will be voluntary and given only to high school students – will remind students to take the test seriously. But junior Renee French said anyone who wants to cheat won't be deterred by signing a piece of paper.
Daugherty heads All-Ohio list
River View didn't get a chance to defend its Division II state championship this year, but the Lady Bears still came away with some top recognition Monday for an outstanding season. Kari Daugherty, who poured in 21 points per game this season, was named to the Division II All-Ohio squad by the Associated Press Monday. .

Ready for the World
Hard to believe the Big Apple could come as a letdown, but for at least one of the six students enrolled in the American University in Cairo (AUC) course Writing on the Road: Discovering America, the Manhattan skyline apparently fell short of her expectations. The students were, in a sense, pioneers — not only was it their first visit to the United States, but the January 2007 Journalism 299 course was also AUC's first effort to send Egyptians to study in a country that sends so many students to the Cairo campus. .
Security risk management vs. software development
George Ou highlights problems with Vista's speech recognition software and wonders why the issue hasn't been fixed for more than a year. The reason: Risk management. Here's George's description of what he calls a flaw in Vista's speech recognition–some folks debate whether it's a flaw or not. This item was surfaced a year ago, but Vista SP1 apparently didn't take care of it. George makes his case that the speech recognition vulnerability deserves more attention. He notes: The test sound file I created managed to wake Vista speech recognition, highlight all the files on my desktop or all my pictures via Windows Explorer, and invoke the shift-delete command which wipes the files without the ability to undelete from the Recycle Bin. I could also open Internet Explorer and invoke TinyURL addresses which in turn redirect to some other malicious executable.
U.S., local immigration teamwork is hailed
The rapid growth of a little-known program that teams federal agents with local authorities to identify and deport jailed immigrants is being embraced as a way to reduce crime and illegal immigration simultaneously. The expansion has been felt throughout South Central Texas, with 22 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents added to the area last year. The Travis County Sheriff's Department approved an ICE request last month to open an office at its lockup. A similar acceleration is planned for Bexar County Jail, which ICE agents already visit daily. Under the Criminal Alien Program, the agents check inmates identified by jail administrators as foreign nationals. Those who are not legally in the country — a determination that only federal agents can make — receive "detainers," meaning ICE agents have one day after their release date to take them into federal custody once their criminal cases are resolved.
