World`s Largest Digital Display To Showcase Videos from MultiVu
NEW YORK, Feb. 13 (ANTARA/PR Newswire)- MultiVu, PR Newswire's multimedia and broadcast public relations company, is now offering its customers a unique opportunity to reach millions of consumers each day with video messages displayed on the 23-story high Reuters digital billboard located in New York's Times Square, the largest of its kind in the world, the company announced today. To view the Multimedia News Release, please click here: http://www.prnewswire.com/mnr/prnewswire/31780/ The placement of MultiVu's customers' video on the Reuters Sign marks a natural extension of an extremely successful partnership entered into in March 2007 between PR Newswire and Times Square2, a division of Reuters and manager of the Reuters Sign. The initial agreement, which was the first of its kind, placed PR Newswire's customers' photos on the 7,400-square-foot billboard, which is seen by an estimated 1.5 million people who pass through Times Square daily.
Rethinking Tenure — and Much More
Young scholars need to publish books to get jobs and tenure. University presses can’t afford to publish books any more and are raising the bar for publication. Libraries don’t have money to buy the books the presses do publish, forcing the presses to make more cuts, making it still more difficult for young scholars to win tenure. While the MLA task force found plenty of problems in the system, one thing it did not find was the feared "lost generation" of scholars who had been denied tenure. The association conducted a survey of 1,339 departments on their tenure policies and processes. A key finding was that the actual rates of tenure denials in these departments are quite low — around 10 percent. But while junior professors in English and foreign languages were apparently incorrect in thinking that many were being rejected for tenure, they weren’t incorrect that the rules and system had changed.
Stretching the limits of thermoplastic elastomers
Alistair Rae reviews some of the most recent developments and looks at a selection of applications that can benefit from this expanding class of materials. Thermoplastic elastomers are remarkably versatile, either used on their own or overmoulded to provide tactile or functional features on components moulded from other polymers. Material properties can vary considerably from one grade to the next, with the difference being down to the chemistry and the presence of filler materials or additives. One of the major advantages of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) materials today is that, unlike their vulcanised rubber counterparts, they can be recycled and reused. Modern TPEs are relatively easy to process by moulding, extruding and blow moulding, and the availability of clear grades means that they are found in a wide variety of applications.
Voters To Decide Pollock/Mobridge Consolidation
It's up to voters in Pollock to decide whether its school should consolidate with Mobridge. If approved, the Pollock school building would keep its K-12 students the first year. After that, the school would stay open for elementary school students as there’s six of them. The older students would go to Mobridge. The Pollock School District has had to be efficient over the years. "I teach everything from normal art classes to junior high exploratory to video editing, desktop publishing, computer applications and supervised distance learning classes," Waynette Geigle said. So in her 16 years of teaching in Pollock, Geigle has seen many students come through her class year after year, every year, K-12. "I know if they have reading problems or certain educational challenges and so I can devise my teaching to meet those needs," Geigle said. But now that total enrolment numbers have dropped to almost 50, the money coming in isn't enough to keep up. "As far as a budget is concerned for next year, we don't feel we can meet a budget so we couldn't operate on our own for another year," school CEO Wayne Hanson said. So, student now have to wait for voters to decide where they'll go to school and their teachers will work out their futures after that. "It kind of depends what that teaching assignment would be but I would like to, yes, continue teaching in the area," Geigle said. The one thing known for certain: the current Pollock school district won't be around much longer, efficient or not. People will vote on the issue February 26.

All-paper voting bill has bipartisan face
It is a huge step forward," said Myriah Conroy, a plaintiff in the 2006 suit against then-Secretary of State Gigi Dennis. "It is really brave and courageous of the (legislative) leadership to bring this forth." But many county clerks call the paper-ballot proposal a step backward, predicting long lines and glitches on Election Day and delayed results. In fact, clerks nicknamed the measure the "Help Colorado Wait in Line Act." 'Chaos' predicted "There is going to be chaos," Mesa County Clerk Janice Rich said Tuesday. "Welcome to Florida 2008." The bill calls for voters statewide to cast paper ballots at polling sites for the August primary and November general elections, but also allows people to vote on touchscreen machines if they ask to. The measure has unprecedented support - the only bill this year to be co-sponsored by the top Republican and Democratic leaders of both chambers, according to Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon, D-Denver.
