Two more sentenced in Murrieta 'Fight Club' case

Parents, teach your sons to be nice to others, to think about their long term plans. Its obvious the parents of these gangmembers just didn't care.

Bo wrote on Feb 23, 2008 10:14 AM:It's very refreshing to see the justice system reconize a gang as a gang regardless of race, location, or family financial status.

Railroad Engineered wrote on Feb 23, 2008 10:31 AM:25 years for first degree burglary. first degree burglary is eaither at night,or with a weapon. 25 years this is outragous. 19 years for the same deal. no one is hurt you don't even know if they threatend anyone with the guns or just had them on their persons. Gang cercumstance is just crap, this is a bunch of dumb kids doing really stupid stuff. This behavior dose not warrant those kinds of sentence's.

Student filmmaker scores hometown screening at Tri-Valley festival

For his sophomore project, New York University film student Noah Lagin could have produced a cute piece of fluff comedy worthy of YouTube.

Instead, the Pleasanton native decided to make the most of his $2,500 budget: he made a

12-minute movie about the Holocaust.

Warsaw is a compressed thriller about a Jewish man in the Warsaw Ghetto confronting a Nazi soldier. Lagin will have his film screened at the Tri-Valley/Tri-City Jewish Film Series on March 2. It will be paired with Wondrous Oblivion, a British feature from 2003.

Lagin wont be able to make the screening. A senior at NYUs Tisch School of the Arts, he is currently working on several film projects as a camera assistant. But hes happy to have his 2006 short film make its Bay Area premiere.

Other Fug Fixes

It's been another long week here at GFY HQ, what with the Oscars, and blogging about the Oscars, and then complaining about how boring the Oscars were... but, at long last, TGIF. Which around these parts stands for Thank George It's Friday.

What better way to end the week than to borrow again, with respect, a gimmick from The Daily Show and sign off for the day with something that brings us inner peace. After a random conversation with a friend about Reba McEntyre songs, it came to my attention that she'd never been exposed to the sheer brilliance that is the video for that old duet, "Does He Love You?" I remember seeing this when the song came out back in the 90s, and it plucked every soapy heartstring I have.

Behold the glories of what Reba is wearing in the very first shot! Of the hat she so boldly wears in extreme close-ups in Act 2! Of the hugeness of her hair in Act Three! The total generic himbo they're fighting for, and all the associated top-notch acting! And that ending.

2nd teen charged in death

There are good people who live there. But I can see how it appears. Stabbings in cherokee-chicora, killing in liberty hill, waylon, pepperhill.

But it's the same people over and over again. when will it stop? when all your young are dead?

Is an offline version of Silverlight coming at MIX next week?

Posted in:

Microsoft Silverlight AIR

There have been rumors for a while and today TechCrunch says they've been hearing that an offline version of Silverlight is coming to compete with Adobe AIR. Currently, despite a lot of comparisons in the tech media world, Silverlight and AIR have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Silverlight competes with Flash Player, a product that has been around for a very long time. But maybe that's changing.

What they'll most likely do is release an "offline" version of Silverlight that uses SQLite. It would be something like Google Gears where they install the database with the runtime then developers can write data to it and take their Silverlight applications offline.
